Help
Below are some hot topics from the help file included with Depiction. For more information, please click the "Help" button within Depiction or press F1 in the application.
- Depiction area size: Depiction works best when the size of the depiction area is appropriate for a neighborhood, community or city level depiction.
- File size: Saved Depiction Files will typically be no less than 10Mb in size and may be much larger depending on the amount of imagery and other data contained therein.
- Beta saves: Depictions created and saved using any Beta version will not work when loaded by the release version of the software.
- Undo/Redo: Undo/Redo only works for a few actions and is accomplished by using "ctrl-z" and "ctrl-y" respectively.
- Zoom: Zooming is accomplished by using the navigation widet in the lower left corner of the screen, the mouse scroll wheel or by using "pg up"/"pg dn". Holding down the "ctrl" key while using "pg up/dn" provides finer zoom controls.
- Images: Colorized maps or line drawings that are image (e.g. JPEG) files can be imported into Depiction even though they are not geospatially "aware" (i.e. unregistered). For the detailed procedure, read item #12 in the FAQ section of the Help documentation.
